403 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel with high chromium and low carbon. It is also referred to as UNS S40300 and is commonly adopted in applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.

403 Stainless Steel Pipe Description

403 stainless steel pipe has excessive amount of chromium content providing excellent corrosion resistance, making it stable and unaffected in harsh environments. High hardness, toughness and wear resistance are few examples of its good mechanical properties. However, it is less corrosion-resistant than other stainless steels such as 304 or 316 and may not be favorable when used in highly corrosive environments. The Nickel element helps 403 stainless steel form stable austenite and obtain a complete austenite structure, providing the pipe with better strength, plasticity and toughness, aside from excellent hot and cold workability, cold formability, weldability. Additionally, it improves the thermodynamic stability of 403 stainless steel pipes.
