403 stainless steel is sorted as a martensitic stainless steel with high chromium and low carbon content. It is also known as UNS S40300 and is commonly used in applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance.

403 Stainless Steel Bar Description

403 stainless steel bars are suitable for use in harsh environments given its good corrosion resistance. Additionally, they also have good mechanical properties, including high hardness, toughness and wear resistance. One thing to note is such bars are not as resistant to corrosion as other stainless steels such as 304 or 316 and may not be suitable for use in extremely corrosive environments. The Nickel element enables 403 stainless steel to obtain a complete austenite structure, providing the steel with higher strength, plasticity and toughness, as well as excellent hot and cold workability, cold formability, weldability. Additionally, it improves the thermodynamic stability of 403 stainless steel.
